A Kit?

About a year ago I participated in a card kit exchange. When all my kits got here, I didn't know what to do with them. None of the kits contained the one paper I could color on at that time. So I put them away and promptly forgot about them. I was looking for some thing the other day and came across the kits. They each had 3 stampings of the same image, some embellishments, maybe ribbons, and several 6 x 6 papers. I decided that I needed to see what I could do with them. This little gal was calling to me! She is stamped on watercolor paper with memento inks - that means no watercolor things or the ink runs. I really didn't want to try my copics on it either. (By the way, I now color on anything I come across - just takes practice as most papers have their own special good points as well as not so good ones.) So I thought, why not try my prismacolor pencils? I do have quite a few of them as I used them for needlework several years ago. OMS = odorless mineral spirits (Gamsol is one brand). You put some on a pencil stomp (tortillion) and wipe over where you colored with the pencils. It "melts" the pencil and makes it look smooth. I colored some on scrap paper - just a solid scribble - and used my stomp and oms to blend colors! Never thought of it until I was coloring and didn't have a color I needed! It works! Anyhow, I was pretty happy with the way my Tilda came out! It wasn't hard at all and I think this might be a way to go when you are traveling and don't want to take a chance on wrecking your copics! This kit had red and green papers. I punched the edges to make them lacy and the "ribbon" was made of cotton! Just had to use the buttons that also came with the kit. I made a spellbinders scalloped oval out of a patterned paper that was also in the kit. The only thing not in the kit are the roses and those leaves I cut from a new die I just got. Of course I stickled the flowers as I needed more stickle. I also have been dying to use some doilies I came across when I found the kits. I love red and green and especially together. Can hardly wait to try another kit now! Hope you enjoy it. I would love to give credit to the gal who sent the kit, but am not sure she would want her name published for nothing. Guess I was just too much of a newbie when I did this exchange. I was thrilled with what I got, just wanted to keep the kits together - you know as kind of a challenge? Here's a special hug to those gals that sent those kits! By the way, it was the Magnolia-icious yahoo group. That was the first one I joined and it was quite awhile before I joined any others. I still belong and love it - the other ones, too!! Hugs to you all, Barb F

I have been out of commission for months and haven't even looked at a card or blog...for some reason your post called to me and I opened it. I am so glad I did:) Your work is beautiful and every one of your cards put a smile on my face. Just reading your posts makes me wish you were a neighbor or something...just what the doctor ordered to perk me up. Keep up your wonderful work and your cheery posts and thank you for sharing so much of yourself.
